Twitter's new profile pages go live for everyone, Gmail experiences some downtime, the Nook goes on sale, and QR code scams are on the rise.

• New profiles for everyoneThis week all Twitter profiles will be updated to include header photos. The feature has previously been one you could opt into, but on December 12th the new look will become standard for all users. [Twitter Blog]
• Why Gmail, Chrome, and Drive Went Down TodayThis morning a large number of Gmail users experienced outages that as of this moment remain unexplained. The problem, which some speculate was an authentication issue, caused Chrome and Google Drive to crash for some users as well. • Barnes & Noble Cuts Nook Price From $99 to $79Barnes and Noble is cutting the price of it's Nook Simple touch e-reader to $79. Previously $99, the Nook is one of our favorite devices for is easy rootability: just a bit of work and you've got yourself the ultimate Android-based ereader. • That square QR barcode on the poster? Check it's not a stickerQR Codes are something we're probably better off without, but they're mostly just annoying. However, criminals have been spamming public places with bad QR codes for malicious sites, making them something you should exercise caution with before scanning. [The Register]
