Apple introduces next-generation MacBook Pro with Retina display, the Mac Pro line gets resurrected, an all-new AirPort Express gets released, and the Last.fm security breach actually happened three months ago.
- Apple Announces Next-Generation 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, Ships Today for $2,199 You've already read up on the new features of Mountain Lion and iOS 6 at today's WWDC 2012 keynote, but Apple also announced upgrades to their entire MacBook Pro lineup, including an all new "next-generation" model that comes packing with a 220ppi, 2880x1800 Retina display and a thinner body than the other MacBook Pro models. - The Mac Pro Lives: Apple Has Resurrected One of Its Most Venerable Lines (Sort Of) Despite many rumors that Apple would kill off the Mac Pro line, the company decided to give them at least one more chance, quietly updating them without a WWDC keynote mention. The updates aren't too significant, with the base model being a 3.2GHz quad-core CPU, 6GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive and AMD Radeon 5770 graphics. [Gizmodo]
- The All-New AirPort Express In the midst of Mountain Lion, iOS 6, and new MacBook Pros is another updated device from Apple that may have slipped through the fingers of those keeping up with the WWDC keynote festivities. Apple released a completely redesigned AirPort Express that now comes with two ethernet ports and simultaneous dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi. If you still haven't changed your Last.fm password, it would be a good idea to do so now. - Sprint Plans to Launch NFC Mobile Wallet as U.S. Wallet War Continues to Heat Up Sprint is planning to come out with its own NFC mobile payment system as early as this summer to compete against the heated competition with Google, who is planning to release a more cloud-based Google Wallet 2.0.
